You must login or create an account to register for programs.

You must LOGIN with your existing member account  OR CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT  to register for programs:

  • SKATER ACCOUNTS from previous years are CURRENT. If you can't recall your login password, click the "forgot my password" link - please do not create a new account.
  • Only a parent or legal guardian should register a skater.   Only create 1 member account per family to register skaters under, multiple accounts will cause problems with skater(s) records.
  • In order to receive important notices from the club regarding program schedule changes, special theme days, etc. please ensure you select all three Message List check boxes.  If you do not opt in to receive messages the club is not responsible for missed communications or events as this is the only way the club contacts you.
  • If our system detects more than 30 minutes of inactivity in your browser, your registration spots will no longer be reserved and you will need to begin again.
  • Please refer to the Pre-Can and CanSkate Refund and Fees Policy or the Advanced CanSkate and STARSkate Fee, Refund and Commitment Policy  for more information

Program Registration Requirements

This program is the "bridging" program to figure skating.

Skaters must have passed level 3 of CanSkate AND have received an invitation by the Cochrane Skating Club Coaches to participate in this program.

Please contact membership@cochraneskatingclub.ca if you have any questions about this program.

Important Dates 2020-2021 Season

Season Dates: September 3, 2020 to April 29, 2021

Program Times:

  • Skating: Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.
  • Off Ice: Tuesday 5:15 to 5:45 p.m.

Exceptions:

  • No Skating: Dec 24, Dec 31

Mandatory Parent Meeting:

  • September 15th 5:00 p.m. Cochrane Arena (upstairs multi-purpose room).

Note:  Advanced CanSkate skates on Tuesday and Thursday. You must add Tuesday and Thursday plus the Tuesday Off Ice programs to your shopping cart in order to check out.

Figure Skate Requirements

Skaters are required to have properly fitting figure skates for this program and properly sharpened skates. Used skates are fine, as long as the fit is right for the skater and the boots have not been broken in too much that they no longer have enough support.

Unfortunately, sharpening cannot be reliably performed anywhere in Cochrane at this time.  A figure skating blade is VERY different from a hockey blade and requires a very specific sharpening.  Professional Skate Service in Marda Loop in South West Calgary is the only recommended sharpener and supplier for figure skating in the immediate area. They also have a good selection of used and new skates.

Helmets are Required

CSA approved Hockey helmets are mandatory in Advanced CanSkate.

Please note the Advanced CanSkate programs share ice with the  Junior STARSkate programs where there is not a mandatory helmet requirement.

Fees, Refunds and Commitments Policy

Please refer to the Advanced CanSkate and STARSkate Fees, Refunds and Commitments Policy for information about Volunteer Commitments, Fundraising Bonds and other important information.

Payment Methods Accepted

Visa and MasterCard is accepted through our secure payment provider via our registration system. All fees paid by credit card must be received a minimum of 24 hours prior to the start of the first class.

Cheques must be received a minimum of 5 days prior to the start of the first class to allow sufficient time for the club to process your registration with Skate Canada. NSF cheques are $25

E-transfers can be made. Select option for offline payment during the registration process.  Please send to treasurer@cochraneskatingclub.ca  and be sure to include invoice number in the message of the e-transfer.

Your skater may miss the first class if payment is not received in the above mentioned time-frame as the club requires sufficient time to process your skaters enrollment with Skate Canada. The club is not responsible to reduce fees or refund payment for late enrollment.

The club has the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration.
