Program Description:

**Mandatory Parent Meeting on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 5:00pm upstairs at the old arena**

NOTE: You must add Tuesday Off-Ice and Thursday to your cart to complete registration for Advanced CanSkate.

No Skating December 22-January 6, 2019.

Mandatory Tuesday Off-Ice: 5:15 to 5:45 pm starts Tuesday, September 18, 2018. Please ensure to have proper running shoes to avoid injury (no bare feet or boots) and a water bottle. No off-ice Sept 4, 11 (parent meeting in place), Dec 25, Jan 1, Feb 19.

* Please note - Skaters must have passed level 3 of CanSkate AND have received an invitation by the Cochrane Skating Club Coaches to participate in Advanced CanSkate. This program is the "bridging" program to figure skating.

Skaters are required to have properly fitting figure skates for this program and properly sharpened skates. Used skates are fine, as long as the fit is right for the skater.  Leather boots will provide the best support and last longer.Unfortunately, sharpening cannot be performed anywhere in Cochrane at this time.  A figure skating blade is VERY different from a hockey blade and requires a very specific sharpening.  Professional Skate Service in Marda Loop in South West Calgary is the only recommended sharpener and supplier for figure skating in the immediate area. They also have a good selection of used and new skates. Helmets are mandatory until your skater reaches Junior StarSkate.

Volunteer Commitment of 8 hours for the 2018/19 season. If your skater moves to junior mid-season, you will only be required to complete 8 hours for Advanced CanSkate Volunteer requirements. Any outstanding hours will be added to skater accounts on or before April 18, 2019 at the rate of $25/hour remaining.
