Program Description: Parent n' Tot Program DetailsParent & Tot is a learn to skate program designed to allow a Parent to assist the development of beginning skaters. Instructed by certified Skate Canada coaches, skaters will receive hands-on assistance on the ice from a "Parent who they know, trust and is in their cohort. This program is open to children aged 3 and up will introduce skaters to the basics of skating through action songs, games, and play. 1. Parent role can be another family member with skating ability or individual within a cohort with the skater. Parent will wear helmet. 2. Parent requirement: Must be 15 years of age and have basic skating skills (balance on two feet, move forward and stop). Must be able to hold/assist the skater on skates. 3. Parent role is to act as an assistant to the skater as coaches cannot be hands on at this time. 4. Parent is required to pay $1.00 per class ($8.00 total) for insurance purposes. Skaters are required to purchase an annual Skate Canada membership ($43.65) to participate. Program skills for completion are listed below. Skaters will receive a report card on the last day. When all 8 skills have been mastered, skaters will graduate into our CanSkate program. 1. Balance on 2 feet 2. Fall down and get up 3. Move forward 4. Move backward 5. Make snow 6. March around the spot 7. 2-foot twist on the spot 8. Jump on the spot Equipment required Skates - white (or black) figure skates OR lace up hockey skates - No bob skates. Molded/plastic skates are not recommended. Gloves/ mitts, warm comfortable clothing that your child can move well in.

Skating Days: Jan 26, 28, Feb 2, 4, 9, 11, 16, 18 - Parents meeting will be held on-line with one of our coaches.
Dressing RoomsPlease check the monitor in the lobby DAILY for what dressing room CanSkate has been assigned. Please do not use non-assigned dressing rooms as other user groups may be arriving at the rink to get ready for their programs. Your belongings may be moved by Arena staff if you are in the wrong dressing room. The Cochrane Skating Club is not responsible for any missing or lost equipment or belongings.
Helmets are Mandatory CSA approved Hockey helmets are mandatory for all CanSkate programs. Note: Bicycle, SnowBoarding and other helmets are not permitted. For more information refer to the Helmet Use Policy
CanSkate Fees and Refund PolicyRefer to the CanSkate Fee and Refund Policy for information on program withdrawals and refunds. The club has the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration.
Payment Methods AcceptedVisa and MasterCard is accepted through our secure payment provider via our registration system. All fees paid by credit card must be received a minimum of 24 hours prior to the start of the first class. E-transfers can be made. Select option for offline payment during the registration process. Please send to treasurer@cochraneskatingclub.ca and be sure to include invoice number in the message of the e-transfer. Your skater may not attend the first class if payment is not received in the above mentioned time-frame as the club requires sufficient time to process your skaters enrollment with Skate Canada. The club is not responsible to reduce fees or refund payment for late enrollment.
